2 Million Penny Campaign Launched: VBS, Children's Ministries, Community Partners Asked to Assist

The United Methodist Children's Home seeks support to fund summer education and is turning to you for help. Two million pennies, or $20,000, are needed to fully fund a high-quality summer education program for residential children needing special care to be successful. Through individual support, special projects, vacation Bible school and other church offerings and other community fund-raising activities, we believe that summer education will become a reality for children who desperately need the extra academic support.

Children served at UMCH need summer education because:

  • Two-thirds of our children have some type of learning disability or difference.
  • About one-third of our children are mildly retarded, or have developmental delays due to abuse or congenital syndromes and benefit from year-round school.
  • Many children have not had a consistent school where they might have stayed long enough to benefit from the academic environment. A girl who is a recent arrival at Wesley Cottage has moved fourteen different times in just four years.

How you can help:

  • Make a donation today. UMCH can receive your financial contribution by mail (checks preferred), and is also equipped to receive Visa or Mastercard by phone. Gifts may be sent to:

    The United Methodist Children's Home
    1033 High Street
    Worthington, OH 43085

  • Begin collecting all spare change, or make the decision to "cash in" your change container to make change for children. UMCH can receive your coins if you prefer not to bring them to the bank. We'll issue a tax letter once we have counted your change. Invite your friends to join you!
  • Hold a special summer fundraising event with your organization.
  • Invite a UMCH speaker for Vacation Bible School, PTA or civic meetings, worship or youth group events. A visit is not needed to help with this initiative.

To participate in this important ministry, please contact Debbie Lewis at UMCH,E-Mail or (614) 885-5020, ext 536.
